I am sitting on an airplane. I start chatting up the person next to me and the question arises, “What do you do for a living?” The follow up question to my answer of life coach is typically, “What is a life coach anyway?”
The easiest way to explain it is this. I pick up where a therapist leaves off.
A life coach is a friend or a mentor. A life coach is also someone you partner with in a co-creative relationship. A life coach recognizes that you are whole, creative and capable. You have all the answers within you to navigate your life, transform your life and grow personally and spiritually. A life coach is there to help you discover your answers, find your clarity and to align with you what you want for your life.
So, why work with a life coach? Are in a place in your life where you are ready for change, growth, transition? Are you willing to shed those limiting beliefs you have been carrying around? A life coach can be there with you every step of the way. In a co-creative relationship with your coach, you can move forward through action to achieve your goals, deepen your understanding of yourself and create the life you deserve!
A life coach can be generalized and help anyone with any issue they may be navigating. Or, they can have an area of expertise, a niche; such as business, divorce, relationships, codependency. The area of expertise can vary between coaches based on their wheelhouse; their area of expertise, life experience, education. Or quite simply, the message they want to share with the world.
“Be patient with yourself. Self-growth is tender; it’s holy ground. There’s no greater investment.” — Stephen Covey
Self-development is an art, not an achievement. It takes time. It requires patience. It asks you to step outside your comfort zone. The challenge when it comes to self-development is the process itself. And that process is easier, when guided by a life coach.
